Why use the Independent Reviewer?

Page

An independent review provides an impartial and unbiased adjudication on a completed investigation of a body or organisation.  It affords an uninvolved decision on the matter in hand that could mitigate against the gravity of appeals or subsequent legal proceedings.

Many statutory bodies and other organisations make provision for independent reviews or adjudications of decisions taken at secretariat or committee level.  Such an independent review provision could be made under statute, conduct rules, bye laws, monitoring and investigation procedures, disciplinary rules and procedures, or as an organisation-led fair practice.
